Slipknot was probably the first metal band I heard and saw that combined the theatrical aspect with the super fast, aggressive, groovy music I was looking for. We’ve been jamming together for a minute, and we can all agree that they’re one of our “back end” influences. Our sound isn’t focused on the nu-metal side so much as on their honest lyrical delivery, style, and the grotesque imagery of the early days.
Hatebreed is a band we all grew up on—from staying up late watching Headbanger’s Ball hosted by Jasta, to hearing them on movie soundtracks, to seeing them multiple times and never getting tired of it. They’re the GOATs. The tone, the riffs, and the punching drums make them one of my favorite hardcore/metal bands. “Perseverance” was huge for me at the time, and it was from Headbanger’s Ball that I discovered so many other sick bands on Victory, Century Media, etc.
Converge, last but not least. This band has inspired me since I first heard them from a friend's older brother. The work ethic and art are cohesive. The emotion they’ve conveyed and the performance they deliver are unmatched. They’re another one of my favorite bands in hardcore. “You Fail Me” is one of my favorite albums of all time.
