Daniel: My First Concert Experience – NSYNC at Aloha Stadium, 1998
Thinking back to my first concert, it’s crazy to realize how much it may have shaped my love for music. In 1998, I had the chance to see NSYNC perform at Aloha Stadium in Hawaii. Being there at such a young age, surrounded by the energy of the crowd and the sheer scale of the production, was unforgettable.
I believe it was one of the moments when I found my inspiration for vocal performances and for how harmonies can come together to create an amazing sound.
There was something about hearing NSYNC’s harmonies come to life in a live setting that really stuck with me—it planted a seed that continues to grow in my musical journey today. While I love heavy drums and guitars, I always love having intricate vocal layers that create ear candy that people will enjoy.
After the concert, my dad took me to the fair, where we rode rides and played carnival games, making the night even more special. Looking back, it was one of those core memories that reminds me why I fell in love with music in the first place.
Stephen: My First Concert Experience – Brian McKnight
My first concert was actually Brian McKnight. With my best friend at the time, his mom took us. We were in middle school, and she was a huge fan. Although at that age my only interest was in the girl I had a crush on being there, little did I know that would inadvertently affect the roots of my musical interest. I wasn't a huge fan of Brian McKnight—I didn't even know who he was at the time—but something about the way his vocals sounded really resonated with me. Now, when I'm not balls-to-wall emo, I like to kick back to some R&B, and a lot of that kind of stuff seeps into the way I sing. No matter how heavy the bands I listen to get, there's a part of me that's always drawn to soulful vocals.
