In this Dream Tour segment, the indie-alternative artist, Skinny Atlas, reveals who he would want on his ultimate tour lineup. You can check out their picks below:
This might be one of the hardest questions for me to answer because it’s like choosing the best drop in the ocean, haha. But if I had to absolutely choose, it would be Alex G, Nas, Frank Ocean, Bright Eyes, and Bad Bunny.
Alex G:
Probably the person who has inspired me the most when it comes to continuously reinventing himself, pushing musical boundaries, and creating what you genuinely feel. I’ve never seen him live, but I’ve seen many of his sets on YouTube. He always makes his sets very close, personal, and authentic. It’s more about the experience than about everything being perfect, and that’s what music has always been to me.
Nas:
He was my first introduction to hip-hop, which is in my top three favorite genres. You can thank him for my rhythm. The raw flows, intimate lyrics, and rhyme schemes, while telling very deep stories, have always had me moving while staying focused at the same time. I can imagine everyone in the crowd moving in sync while acknowledging every word he spits out.
Frank Ocean:
Because this might be one of the rarest things on this earth, haha. He has to be one of the most influential artists ever at this point, and definitely for me. I love how vulnerable he allows himself to be on stage, and he has even made different versions of songs for live performances, which makes them unique each time.
Bright Eyes:
Connor Oberst is someone who I think has some of the best lyrics ever written! I can’t even explain in words how much he has influenced my music in many ways. Every song of theirs paints a picture in my head of what’s being sung. The raw emotional depth, poetic imagery, and blending of storytelling with surreal/abstract thoughts always put me in a mood of nostalgia—whether it's deeply sad, happy, or about love—making Bright Eyes an easy group to resonate with for many people and many feelings.
Bad Bunny:
I love how forward-thinking he is with his music. Every album of his is never the same as the last. When it comes to his ability to be very open to trying new sounds, his concepts and collaborations always make him a breath of fresh air to listen to. I’ve never met anyone who’s been to his concerts and hasn’t enjoyed them, and, very similar to everyone else mentioned on my lineup, he also seems to give more of an experience than just singing or rapping songs. I’ll never forget seeing him perform throughout NYC on top of a bus!
