Gal Musette - FIRST CONCERT EVER

Gal Musette - FIRST CONCERT EVER

In this First Concert Ever segment, the folk/Americana artist, Gal Musette, shares the story of her first concert experience. You can check out the story below:

I saw my first concert when I was 5 years old, in 2004. My dad got us No Doubt tickets, for him, myself and my cousin Luisa. Gwen Stefani was my idol and obsession when I was little. I used to dress up as her every day (“Return of Saturn era," with the pink hair and the red skirt.) I even ran into her once when I was in full Gwen uniform at Disneyland. She was with her bodyguards, but I distinctly remember her winking at me when she recognized her own album cover in my outfit!

At five years old, I had never experienced the kind of crowd or noise of a concert. I remember anticipating getting to hear my favorite song “Just A Girl," and feeling giddy to be in the vicinity of my icon, Gwen. The opener for the show was this band I didn’t know of or care about, Blink-182. But then they started playing. Their first song was “Feeling This” which caught my interest immediately. The energy of their set, and the incredible melodies in their songs made me feel like I was flying. By the end of the set, my father had me on his shoulders as I was smiling ear to ear experiencing the most magical moment of my life thus far.

The funny part is that Blink-182 stole the show, at least for us — my only memory of No Doubt’s set is hearing Gwen’s distant voice as I fell asleep in my dad’s arms as he walked me through the parking lot. We didn’t even make it halfway through No Doubt’s set.
