In this Preshow Rituals segment, the indie pop/rock band, Fright Years, shares how they get ready before taking the stage. You can check out their rituals below:
Pre-show for us usually starts with load-in and setting up for soundcheck. We always start soundcheck with our song “Stars.” It’s opened our set pretty much since the day it was written and nothing’s been able to knock it off the top spot since — we just love playing it and it really sets the tone for the rest of the show. It always feels like we can breathe a bit afterwards.
After soundcheck we usually spend some time fine-tuning things like our stage lights and setting up the merch desk. Meeting people at merch after the show is always one of the highlights of the night — we’re currently working on some new designs for our next run of shows which we’re very excited about.
Between soundcheck and our stage time we take things pretty easy. We love a bit of a sit down meal together with our team at a local restaurant in whatever city we’re in, and then before our stage time we usually get ready in the green room or the back of the van. We’ve been playing one of our favorite tracks “Sexy Goodbye” by Chloe Qisha as our walk-on song lately, so we know once we hear it starting from out front it’s showtime.
